It’s one of our favorite weekends of the year here in Jackson. This weekend, from May 24-27, we celebrate Old West Days. The multi-day event honors and embraces Jackson’s rich history with numerous activities ranging from the traditional “Town Shootout” to the 32nd Annual Old West Days Parade. We’re a bit biased, but our favorite event is the Old West Brewfest. Located on the Town Square, Old West attendees will be able to revel in the incredible Jackson Hole Craft Beer Community and sample the goods from our local breweries from 11am-5pm on Saturday, May 25, 2013. We’ll have our Sacred Creed Saison, Curtain Belgian Wit and Boom Pow Double IPA on tap, as well as our new release, The Mighty Stir Belgian Tripel IPA. The Mighty Stir is brewed with grains from Belgium and France, Belgian candi syrup, and hopped like a west coast style IPA using American hops. If you’re a Belgian Beer and IPA fan looking for the perfect combination, this is the beer for you. This beer gives you the west coast style IPA coupled with the Belgian yeast flavor and dry finish you’ve been searching for.

What is a Randall?

We all love great beer, and the Randall was created by Dogfish Head’s founder Sam Calagione to make great beer better! What is a Randall you ask? In short it’s a device that infuses your craft beer of choice with flavor enhancing ingredients. What ingredients? Well that’s up to you. We like to use it to bring out different qualities in our select craft beers. For instance, we enjoy running our Rhombus IPA through Amarillo hops to enhance its flavor and aromatic qualities. Our Belgian Wit tastes quite delicious when randalled through fresh oranges – there’s nothing better on a hot summer afternoon!

Beer. It’s a beverage made from simple ingredients: barley, hops, yeast and water. However, as simple as it sounds, its history runs deep through civilization (dating as far back as 9000BC), and brewing each different style requires precision and extreme attention to detail. It can be argued beer helped spawn the Agricultural Revolution and turned the economic tide during the Great Depression with the repeal of prohibition. In short, it’s a beverage that knows no boarders and has been providing nourishment, comfort, camaraderie and employment to individuals across the globe from generation to generation. It’s a history and community we at the Roadhouse Brewing Co. are proud to be a small part of and fully embrace.

To commence joining the craft beer community, we at the Roadhouse Brewing Co. are hosting our Grand Opening on Monday, May 13, 2013 at the beginning of American Craft Beer Week (ACBW). ACBW is about enjoying and celebrating the culture and community of craft beer, which makes for a perfect time to have a Grand Opening. At the Roadhouse Brewing Co. we strive to brew beer as bold as the Tetons. Our brewers started out as homebrewers and we remain true to our roots. We’re passionate about our beer, the brewing process, culture and endorse the many flavors and styles from around the world that define the craft beer family. The same thirst for adventure and exploration that brought us to the Tetons resides in every batch we brew. Beer by beer we look to cultivate and grow the already strong craft beer community in Jackson Hole and neighboring valleys. This is the spirit and atmosphere we hope to create and celebrate through the week of May 13, 2013.

Rhombus IPA: Big bright bold floral and citrus hop bomb that is not too bitter but leaves your tongue asking for more of that hop dope. 8.4% ABV

Sacred Creed Saison: The Sacred Creed is a Franco Belgian Style Saison with a healthy amount of American Hops and a special wild yeast blend 6.5% ABV

The Curtain Belgian Wit: The Curtain is a Belgian style ale that is very light and refreshing. It has a slightly up front fruity aroma and taste that comes from the yeast, but finishes dry and crisp, and a slight spice character which is a product of the wheat. To the eye it appears very light and has a hazy complexion. It’s brewed with 45% Wheat and 55% malted barley, a variety of American hops, fresh orange peels (peeled by hand), coriander and juniper berries.

Veil of Composure Strong Pale Ale: Months of obedient self-restraint, of hiding our tension behind a serene veil of composure. It has been boiling, on the back burner, occasionally frothing over in a turbulent storm. And finally we have this beer, which we celebrate in honor of what it took to get us here. A bitter salute that reassures us it was all worth the effort. Let’s all step through the door together. Drink up Friends! 6.5% ABV

Helping Friendly Prussian Stout: Brewed with good friends from Odell Brewing Co., This Prussian Imperial Stout traces its lineage to the land of darkness. Chocolate and coffee flavors are enriched by its overwhelming smooth mouth feel. The Surprisingly dry finish makes it easy to ask for a second (or third). Surrender to the flow 8.5% ABV

Belgian IPA: Brewed with grains from Belgium and France, Belgian candi syrup, and hopped like a west coast style IPA using American hops. If you’re a Belgian Beer and IPA fan looking for the perfect combination, this is the beer for you. This beer gives you the west coast style IPA coupled with the Belgian yeast flavor and dry finish you’ve been searching for.

Powerful Pils Pilsner: The Powerful Pils is a Czech style pilsner that is a light straw color and extremely refreshing. It’s a a crisp, clean beer chocked full of American hops that’s meant to be savored after a long, hot Teton summer day on the river or bike through the mountains.

Boom Pow Double IPA: A west coast style IPA that really boasts all of it’s hop attributes. Whole leaf hops were added to the mash to give it a well rounded hop flavor, then hopped in the boil, whirlpool, hop back and dry hopped in the FV. It’s a heavily hopped beer with just enough malt flavor to balance a huge hop bill. 9.2 abv

Thirsty Thursday with The Miller Sisters

It’s Thursday, and the weekend is right around the corner. Why not kick it off a little early with some live music and libations? Every Thursday at the Roadhouse Restaurant and Brewery The Miller Sister’s throw down from 7:30-10:30pm. As usual happy hour is from 8-9, and we’ll be running a shuttle from the Roadhouse to the Stagecoach for those of you who want to cap off the night with a little Coach Disco Night. Also, don’t forget about the $5 pitchers for groups of 5 or more: Promo runs through April 7th, includes all non-Roadhouse brews, and all you need to do is mention the $5 deal when booking your reservation.

If you live in Jackson, you know The Miller Sisters. If you’re new to town or visiting, let’s just say The Miller Sisters know how to get the crowd going. They mix it up between a few of their original tracks and get you singing along with some of our favorite well-known covers. Amber Waves Beer and Art Collaboration

Roadhouse is headed to Washington, DC, but not for political reasons. We’re participating in the Amber Waves Art of American Craft Beer Event. The Amber Waves Event is a little different from your traditional craft beer gathering. Hosts Victory Brewing Company and Dogfish Head Craft Brewery wanted to bring together a multitude of art mediums into one arena, including the artistically crafted brews we love to drink. Each attending brewery will have brewed art for attendees to sample accompanied by visual art – painting, sculpture, what have you. The donated visual art will range from a mix of pieces that were commissioned specifically for this event to art that has been hanging on the walls of exhibiting breweries operating headquarters. All visual art will be up for Auction from Tuesday, April 2 through Friday, April 5, and proceeds will benefit The Fallen Heroes Fund.

We’re proud to be a part of Amber Waves and are thrilled to contribute the below creation from local Jackson Artist Ben Roth. We want this back in the brewhouse so bad we might just have to bid on it ourselves…

7th Annual Intergalactic Ball Saturday 3/23/13

Art Auction: Silent auction to benefit Sky People Higher Education, a non-profit organization that provides scholarships and other academic aid to further the education of members of the Arapaho Tribe of the Wind River Reservation. Arapaho artist Robert Martinez will be doing a live painting live during the Ball. The silent auction with amazing art, jewelry and more will go from 9:30pm-12pm.

Theme: This year’s color theme’s are White and Gold, which provides party goers endless creative opportunities. Golden space dragons, white androids from planet 9, fuzzy white and gold future forest dwellers, just to name a few…… Nomadic Events wants you to let your imagination run wild!!!!!

Photo booth: There will also be a free photo booth with a custom backdrop to capture your memories from your journey into space!! Kali Collado will be snapping pix at the booth in addition to capturing the night.

Lights, lazers and More: Nomadic Events is getting downright scientific with their light show this year, as they have LIGHTSCIENCE on board to help send you into orbit with dazzling visual displays.

Odell Brewing Co. Collaboration Brew

The day we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived. It’s been a long time coming, but all that matters now is we’re doing what we love, brewing beer!

To kick things off right friends Jake O’Mara and Brian Dillion from Odell Brewing Co. joined us for our inaugural brew. For the first batch on our system we decided to do a Roadhouse & Odell Brewing Co. Collaboration Russian Imperial Stout. As we speak our creation is coming alive in Cone 1 at the brewery.

Below are a few photos and a short video recapping the big day. We look forward to raising a glass and celebrating with you soon.

Fly Fishing Film Tour Comes to Jackson Hole

Last night the Rhombus IPA and Sacred Creed Saison made quite the splash at the Fly Fishing Film Tour here in Jackson, Wyoming at the Center for the Arts. If you were there, hopefully you were able to get taste before the barrels ran dry. If you missed it, don’t fret, there’s more beer to come, and we have highlights from last night’s film tour below.

Big thanks to Trout Unlimited (both Teton Valley & Jackson Hole Chapters), WorldCast Anglers and all the volunteers involved who made this happen and for letting us be a part of the event.
